Workshops

I have a passion for helping people ‘grow good health.’ For 13 years, I have been facilitating workshops on a wide range of topics. I am confident in presenting workshops and hands-on learning activities to small groups and large public audiences. I’ve worked with garden clubs, community gardens, groups, businesses, organisations, local libraries, expos, festivals, schools, and home gardeners.

Workshops – topics include: Growing nutrient-dense organic food gardens. Container and small space gardening. Vertical gardening. Herbs for health. Pest and disease management. Small space garden design. Gardening activities for children. Seed saving. Propagation. DIY garden supplies. Composting. Worm farming. Seasonal planting. Microgreens. Incredible Edibles. Food Waste. Soils. Upcycling. Permaculture. Sustainability and many others. My focus is on easy, low-cost, sustainable solutions that build resilient communities.

Participants learn by ‘doing’ with fun, ‘hands-on’ activities. I encourage active involvement to maximise learning outcomes. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions, use their senses, and get inspired with the materials. Post-workshop notes and online support, provide ongoing learning opportunities.

Educational workshop formats include: practical hands-on sessions; interactive displays; take home samples; audiovisual presentations; and participant notes. Contact me for a quote and workshop outline to suit your audience. To attend, check out upcoming events.

What Participants Say …

“If you get a chance to attend a workshop with Anne Gibson from The Micro Gardener, take it. I always come away with loads of new information and inspiration. She makes gardening entertaining and accessible and what she doesn’t know about growing food in large and small gardens in our climate isn’t worth knowin.”

Monika Sprott, Community Engagement Officer, Buddina Community Gardens

“I just wanted to tell you that I thought your workshop was just amazing.  You are truly a wonderful person with s-o much knowledge and insight and I just applaud you for what you’re doing.  You’re a lady after my own heart and I’m hoping that I can do as well as you’ve done in your garden. Keep up the good work.  I’ve been to many workshops at the Sunshine Coast Libraries and yours, by far, was the best one I’ve ever been to. Thanks.”

“Just wanted to pass on the results from the surveys that were completed on Saturday. The results reflect how we felt – it was a fantastic workshop. Such a lot of engaging and interesting material fitting onto 2 hours! Thanks so much for presenting and for your support of Veggie Village. Thanks Anne.”

Amy Connolly, Veggie Village Community Garden, Peregian Beach

“My salad bowl is still going and is GREAT! We are getting great enjoyment out of it and a lot of comments from guests.  I’ve passed along your directions to quite a number of people now.”

“I loved your course at Beerwah – so packed with info and I’ve already started to group my plants into their “needs”. I found this basic info so helpful.  I start planting tomorrow with the Moon calendar. You gave so much info at your course that I have told all that I know.  You continue to give – your passion shows through. Thanks for your help – I’m sure I will have a few questions along the way.  Whenever I can I will attend your courses – they’re great! Thank you.”

“I have gardened for 40 years. Wrote about gardens in the Gympie Times for 23 years! But I learned more with you, so thank you. You are very informative and a rather good speaker. I loved it and plan on growing microgreens successfully now.”

“Anne thank you for the Container Gardening session at the Caloundra Library this morning. It was so much more than we expected. You have such a passion for micro gardening and a wonderful way of sharing your knowledge with all. We will be looking out for any future workshops.”

          Lynda Vandenadel, Sunshine Coast

“I need to thank you … I loved the session on Friday and I was very excited about getting into my garden. (The organic mix went onto my barrel just before the rain last night). It was great to have someone so passionate about what they do speak to us and pass that passion through.”

“Thanks for today’s propagation lesson. I have set up my cuttings: citronella geranium, pineapple sage, aloe vera, pepino and spinach in their individual hothouses. I’m looking forward to seeing how they do. It was good to get involved by planting out, it’s certainly easier to remember.”

Jillian Jones, Propagation Skills Workshop – Yandina Community Gardens, Sunshine Coast

“I really enjoyed your Workshop at Nambour Library.  Found it very interesting and informative.  I have also visited your website and there is just so much information, tips etc. Really great. Thanks again for such a great presentation.  Can’t wait to put into practice.”

“I am very happy about the Urban Permaculture course. It was very interesting. Thank you so much for the documents. It will help me a lot. I will come back to you for your very good tips and I will let you about my project in Haiti. Thank you so much again and I am sure we will stay in touch, you are a key resource for me.”

Gabrielle Savi, Disaster Risk Reduction & Climate Change Adaptation Advisor

“Thanks for a wonderful afternoon, you have a great presentation style and the information is invaluable.  Much appreciated.  They [the microgreens] have started to germinate and they are tall so I have lifted the lid.  I have tasted a couple of the first ones and they are delicious.  What a great way to garden.  I will be planting more of these little beauties.”

“We are writing to you to express our appreciation and admiration for the immense amount of work you lay your hand, body and mind to. We spent most of the day at our Nambour Garden Show and honestly you were the most interesting and rewarding presenter to attend. We, like you, love our gardens and edible crops, and the passion that you showed within your presentation inspired us to “have a better go” at what we manage to do. Many thanks for your guidance Anne.”

“Hello beautiful Anne, I can’t thank you enough for generously volunteering your time, energy and resources to helping me and others on their cancer journey. At such a mentally, physically and spiritually draining and uncertain time in my life you have given me something to hold on to. Something that gives me hope and gives me back the control I need to know that I can beat cancer and give myself every chance to stay cancer free. Planting, nurturing and growing microgreens and herbs for teas is exactly the therapy I needed. It has lifted my spirits, has me excited to get out of bed and see what the new day brings and as a result of eating living growing healthy food, my body feels healthy and energized despite currently receiving chemotherapy.”
